9'6" Scow

 

    The 9 foot 6 inch Scow is a lightweight,  boat that fulfills the role of a small jon boat with the added advantages of greater seaworthiness  and stability. The steeply angled bow and sides make this an exceptionally dry boat, while the bottom width of 3 feet 9 inches provides a stable platform for fishing, hunting, gunkholing, or just plain fun.

    Construction of this boat is of 3/8ths inch fir plywood over fir chines, with 15 oz. biaxial fiberglass tape set in epoxy over all hull joints. All fasteners are of stainless steel, and all hull joints are bedded in 3M 5200 marine sealant.  Double thickness fir rails and a plywood foredeck further enhance this boats strength. The resulting boat is easily moved by a small outboard.
